The 10 Best Tattoo Shops in Philadelphia (2026)
This list ranks Philadelphia tattoo shops using a Google-based Bayesian score that balances average rating with the number of reviews; results have been updated for 2026. We pulled publicly available Google ratings and review counts to highlight local studios that consistently earn strong feedback from clients. Philadelphia’s tattoo scene is spread across walkable corridors and neighborhood strips, so this roundup aims to surface highly rated options in different parts of the city rather than any single style or price point. If you’re shopping for a shop, use this list as a starting point and review portfolios and policies directly.
This ranking is computed from Google reviews (our method). Listings marked Partner are paid advertising spots: they sit alongside the ranking without changing its order.

Sacred Bond Tattoo Company
Sacred Bond Tattoo Company tops the list with a perfect 5.0 rating and 334 Google reviews, a combination that pushes it ahead in our weighted ranking. Its South Street address places it in one of the city’s busiest retail corridors, and the high review volume gives the perfect score more weight under our Bayesian method. Frequently asked questions
How should I choose a tattoo shop in Philadelphia?
Start by reviewing a shop’s portfolio to see the artists’ work and whether their style matches what you want. Check recent customer reviews for comments on hygiene and communication, and confirm the shop follows local licensing and sanitation standards.
What should I ask before booking an appointment?
Ask about the artist’s experience with the specific style, estimated time for the piece, deposit and cancellation policies, and the shop’s sterilization and aftercare procedures. Good shops will also tell you about prep and healing expectations before you commit.
How are these rankings determined?
We rank shops using a Bayesian approach applied to publicly available Google ratings: the method balances each business’s average score with the number of Google reviews so high ratings with larger review counts rank higher. The data was collected and updated for 2026.
When is the best time to call or visit a tattoo shop?
Contact shops during posted business hours to ask about availability; many artists schedule appointments days to months in advance for custom work. For small walk-ins, ask about typical wait times and whether they accept walk-in clients or require appointments.
