Frequently asked questions
How should I choose the right real estate agent in Philadelphia?
Look for an agent with local neighborhood knowledge, clear communication, and a track record that matches your needs (buying, selling, or investment). Read recent client reviews, ask for references, and discuss their marketing or search approach to ensure a good fit.
What does it typically cost to hire a real estate agent?
Fees vary and are generally negotiated between you and the agent; seller-side commissions are often expressed as a percentage of sale price, while buyers may work with agents whose fees are paid by the seller or negotiated differently. Ask each agent how they handle commissions and any additional costs before signing agreements.
What should I check before hiring an agent?
Verify the agent’s license, review recent client feedback and closed transactions in the neighborhoods you care about, and request references. Also confirm communication expectations, availability, and any written contract terms such as exclusivity or length of representation.
How was this ranking built and how should I use it?
This list is based on Google ratings using a Bayesian-style weighted score that accounts for both average rating and review volume, updated in 2026. Use it as one data point alongside interviews, references, and your own comfort level when choosing an agent.
